Can anyone tell me why people get so bladdered on Saturday nights and then not want to pay the taxi driver? |

Because our Labour Government has boosted the economy, whilst letting society spiral downwards unti we end up with the situation we see before us today. Still, 15 years to go, then tranquility, lakes, and the odd Elk.

Because they have long since realised that most of us aren't going to go 10 rounds with someone for a tenner.

I had a situation the other week where I dropped someone off at their house fare came to £40 they only had £30. I considered calling OB but decided the time would cost me more than £10 and probably wouldn't get a result anyway. However I can see where in a future situation I would decide that the principle was more important than the hassle and want to involve police. If I did, who should I call as I know this would not warrent a 999 call? |

It might be wise to have a policy of asking for the fare in advance if you are undertaking long journeys. Regards JD |

I do sometimes, in this case (30's couple, not too drunk) I made a poor judgement. I prefer not to ask money up front also only been a hackney since Feb and am not too good at estimating fares yet. |

I normally ask for the fare in advance, but on this occasion I never, anyway we reached the destination, I asked for the money and he pulled out a few quid, I told him he owed me another 8, he fumbled about for more and tried to get out of the car ( I kept my foot on the brake so he could not get out ) so I just said to him right if thats all you got then I will drop you back from where I picked you up from. Anyway he was still short but like Sussex said I am not going 10 rounds with hin, next time take the money up front - period. |
