We have a school run from one of the local villages to a school in our town. The run has 6 students on it. However it turns out that the 6 students that we have been picking up are not all supposed to be on our run. One of the students has not been allocated a place on the transport so we can no longer pick her up. One of the names on our list does not actually use the transport so we now have a spare seat in the car. County hall will not allow this girl to use the spare seat because she lives 36 metres to close to the school. =D> =D> =D>

We have a similar situation with 3 kids from the same house going to the same school. One isn't allocated a place in the car so we can't take her!!

Leics wont allow "extras" at all, so you had 6 names, one never travels and one wasnt one of the 6 anyway?, so you only need a 4 seater then.....result

Maths seem to be a problem here. We were carrying 6 passengers, one shouldn't have been on the transport so that leaves 5 passengers travelling. this student was taking the seat that should have been allocated to the student that doesn't travel. i have sent you a PM.

usually when we get the contract details we get a list of the pupil names etc. However, this year most of these lists have been left off. We wouldn't have known any different until County hall asked if we could change the vehicle from a 6 seater to an 8 seater. We weren't able to do this so the sent a tender out for the extra 2 pupils. This was when I asked for the list. The schools started back last Thursday but I didn't get the list until yesterday. This was AFTER we had taken the "cuckoo" to school in the morning and we were told by County Hall that we couldn't take her home.
The parent's had requested transport and had been told verbally that she would be allocated a place and the parents, and us assumed that she would be in our vehicle.
We will now be sending a car that the school have contracted from us to pick her up at exactly the same place and exactly the same time as the car with the spare seat will be picking up the rest of the pupils. =D> =D> =D>

We have rules for our school runs.

One or two of them we actually adhere too.

I don't believe it! I had a call from County Hall last Friday to tell me that places had been allocated for 2 students that are currently on one of our vehicles that we provide directly for the school. They asked if they could stay on that transport. Strangely, the school said "NO".

Me thinks most councils need to give their heads a wobble, I've never come across such disorganised chaos in my life as that caused with school runs. How can they get it so wrong when they have all the information ffs
