Does selling food to customers in your car require any sort of license? A chap here is offering early morning breakfast bags and welcome home food bags for his customers. Seems strange to me that he is encouraging eating in his car in the first place.

I guess he's looking for something different that nobody else is doing. There are food hygiene regulations for the preparation of food and storage of food. I guess if he's selling them from his car he'll fail there somewhere, but, if it's prepared at regulated premises and all sealed prior to going in his vehicle I can't see what can happen to the food in his car if it's kept in the boot, can you?

I'd say he needs a license

Correct. The Council policy states that you can't place adverts on any of the vehicle windows but we have 2 cars in the area with adverts in the rear windows.

Food Safety Certificate, compliance with Food Safety Act and a Street Pedlars Licence I would suggest. I may be wrong but I think to be a pedlar you have to be on foot and trade Door to Door.

Any premises, including vehicles, selling food to the public has to be inspected by the LA's food hygiene officer.

Delivery vehicles are also included, but how many from local takeaways have been checked ?
