Post subject:  hi newbie with question

Hello everyone

Just wanted to ask a question I have applied for my license and sent my medical off. I have a heart murmur which I have had from a child never had surgery or caused me bother would that stop me getting a licence

Doubtful but your GP should be able to advise. Its possible they will want to investigate further

They won't know unless you tell the doctor about it or you use your own GP.

Who goes for a taxi medical and tells the doc they are an alcoholic, drug using epileptic with chest pains who suffers from narcolepsy ? #-o

I had to go to my own doctor so fingers crossed I'm accepted just a long waiting game now

I don't think it will - I presume you are subject to a DVLA group 2 medical?

I don't know what the correct phrase is for your condition but perhaps the following link may help;

You should tell DVLA, if they say OK your insurers dont mind and your LA cant object

rules cannot be absolute, a council is allowed discretion - for example they could ask you to produce medical reports from your doctor in respect of your condition and grant a license for a lesser period.
