My A.A is due for renewal!

Last year as a "Much Valued Customer" they billed me for £237 anyway after a stand-off.......like "I am not paying that"......and a "Well that is the price sir" I left it (just like a game of poker) until they got back to me after expiration. The bottom line being is that we got it down to £119 (taxi (cab) cover), (home start), (get the vehicle home from wherever etc).

This year as a "Much Valued Customer" they have billed me for.......£272 .......with a "If you do nothing - " You don't have to call us to renew" .........."As you pay by continuous annual payment - we will take £272.68p from your account on xxxxxxx".

Now that really does tick me off, as I cannot for one minute imagine that at any time that I would agree Or sign up to allow that to happen

Needless to say........IT WILL NOT BE HAPPENING .......don't they ever learn.

Just cancel any direct debits for them and wait for the call.

TBH it's a con, and it needs to stop.

It is not quite as simple as that to cancel a continuous direct debit, as many have found with things like gym membership (not a problem I have). They have continuous authority to keep taking your money. You cancel the direct debit and they simply set up another one. My dad stopped driving, sold his car and moved to Spain. It took me weeks to get the AA to agree to cancel the direct debit. It was getting to the point where I thought the only way to stop the payment was to get my dad to close his bank account and open a new one.

Cancelling a DDM is easy, its a "continous card payment" thats hard but it can be done, report the card lost....lol

On line it takes all of two seconds to cancel anything.

Move your account online and delete to buggery.

The point is that unless you have the authority of whoever has the continuing direct debit, they can simply reinstate it. you have given your authority to this. Without their agreement you would have to change your account.

You tell your bank you are the only person who sets up direct debits or standing orders, and that's that.

I would wager that they covered it up that you were P.H. (someone on commission) and treated you like a normal motorist on minimum cover.
