I have been advised that in the last few weeks our Council discussed this issue and voted to keep the 1 year badge. A strange decision when you consider that the 3 year badge will most probably be the law shortly and also when you consider that our council only do a DVLA check every 3 years and a DBS check every 3 years and a medical check every 3 years.

Once you have a new DBS check and pay the update fee why would they recheck?

our LA are in hiding, our badge fee of £145/year inc £65 DBS fee, cant wait to hear if thats coming off

Well it's their choice at the moment and they've exercised their right to choose a 1 year badge.

Yes but why have an annual badge but only check everything every 3 years?

any badges after the new law/law change comes in will have to be 3 years, £225 her inc DBS - which I wont need, if mine ever comes back

Because they can, would you rather they check everything yearly?

I no longer find it amazing that folk want changes, of course they want change to suit themselves.

Naturally, many local authorities regularly pilfer the licensing budget - you will see local authorities multiply the cost of licenses threefold - because that's how some local authorities operate.

I genuinely despair with elements of this trade - they can see no further than the end of their own noses.

Methinks it will be soon taken out of their hands.

The subject was actually raised by the licensing department, based on the deregulation bill proposals but it seems that the Council don't agree with the proposal.

Your councillors on the licensing committee will probably have very little knowledge of taxi /ph, They will rely on the recommendations made by your licensing department......does your trade.... hack /ph...have a system in place of having regular meetings with the LO's and councillors...say...once every.3 months..with the aim of providing a first class service to the public and the licence holders in your area...if not ..why not... #-o
