A good mate of mine sort permission for approval for his TTG. They said OK. But they are not too happy with the 'sucker' mount and would like to see a more perminent fitting.
I bet they have not tried to remove the sucker from the windscreen. I have to use a nailfile or a small screwdriver poked under the sucker to break the seal.

why do you need approval for a removable / portable device?

Because they are the 'GOD' of us London cab drivers. And it is written. That thou shalt not fit any thing in your taxi that unless we say so.
Because it might be a danger to your traveling public or offensive.
Thou shall not display notices forbidding your fare paying passengers to smoke unless it is an approved sign.
Thou shall not take more than the allowed breaths.
Thou shall not pick thou nose and place the pickings on thou trousers for future use.
You cannot make it up what we cannot have in our cabs without their say so.
