How much is Uber worth? More than Twitter, Netflix and LinkedIn after latest reported funding round values taxi app at up to $40bn Uber's latest reported funding round values startup at $40bn (Source: Getty) Uber, the never-far-from-controversy taxi app, has raised a new round of funding. according to reports, valueing the firm at more than tech superstars such as Twitter, Netflix and LinkedIn. A new funding round of at least $1bn from new and existing investors is being discussed according to Bloomberg, giving the five-year-old startup a valuation of up to $40bn. The new sum would see Uber surpass fellow Silicon Valley startup successes, including Twitter with a market cap of $25.6, LinkedIn at $27.7 and Netflix at $21.4m. It would also see Uber more than double its previous record valuation of $17bn for a direct investment in a US startup, and places it on a level pegging with Chinese mobile maker Xiaomi in the billion dollar startup stakes. The latest reported round of funding, said to include new investor T. Rowe Price Group and existing investor Fidelity Investments, comes after a series of controversies. Most recently a senior executive was revealed to have suggested that the private lives of hostile journalists should be investigated. Uber’s outspoken chief executive Travis Kalanick later apologised for the remarks saying they were not representative of the company. http://www.cityam.com/1416996000/how-mu ... ding-round |

denial some of you, living in denial I tell you http://www.standard.co.uk/business/busi ... 84397.html An app that lets you summon a taxi at the touch of a button could soon be worth more than the likes of Tesco, Rolls-Royce, Twitter and easyJet. |

Ask their drivers how much it's worth after they've been on shift for 12 hours for £70.

You can see a punter before you stop and decide if you want to pick them up. |

I think some are under the illusion that ph drivers have no say in the work they do, from my experience nothing is further from the truth. |

Of course it is the same for PH but what would UBER do about a driver that accepts a job but then does not do the pick up? If you work through an office you can contact them straight away to tell them why you didn't pick up. Can drivers do this with UBER? |
