I was working in Birmingham city centre last night and as with most city's there are loads of out of town hackneys working for PH bases we normally have a load of Gedling some Litchfield Tamworth ect but I was shocked to see a Rossendale .... 110 miles out of area that's a commute and a half

Just wondered what the furthest afield people have actually seen H/C working for PH bases?

At Gatwick/Heathrow you see the UK's taxi/ph fleet every day.

Heathrow has loads of Welsh plated cars, and quite a few West Country plated cars.

Few years back we had a Basildon plated PH doing a local school run down here. Apparently the owner had moved down and was quite happy just doing a schools contract.

I think he only went back to his local council to get licensed once a year.

PH only:

I do Manchester wait and returns every now and again. Furthest I've been to was Hull.

A colleague I know also do runs to Paris and Frankfurt.

A London based firm provides PCO-licensed cars for the World Economic Forum summit in Davos, Switzerland.

Did I phrase this wrong? #-o

I meant out of town hackneys working for a local private hire base, so the one I'm talking about is licenced 110 miles away from birmingham but is working for a birmingham base as he had there stickers on his doors.. not the longest jobs people have been on as interesting as that is :D

Rossendale has a population of, about, 68,000 and has 1,500+ licensed hackney carriages. Is it any wonder that you can find them working hundreds of miles away from Rossendale; where the licensing coffers must be overflowing.

Yeah I know, hence I wrote "PH only" on the first line!
