Taxi Driver Online

I have been asked to quote for a job going to the races at the Curragh in the Republic of Ireland. Nice job over 3 days. I thought I would check out my insurance. It only covers 3rd party if i am out of the United Kingdom. No cover for hire or reward. The policy does say that I can request cover but I wonder how much that will cost?

There is an argument which says that as you are not hire and reward licensed to drive out of the country, then you shouldn't be sold an insurance for an illegal activity.

The insurance cover is only the minimum legal requirement for other EU countries. That is probably standard on most policies. If you want fully comp cover whilst abroard you probably need to ask your insurers for extra cover. This may be just a free add on or it may cost or it may be refused but it would be best to check before you travel and not when you need to make a claim. Hire and reward may be a different kettle of fish though. Anyway we priced the job up with the proviso that there may be a cost for the insurance but somehow I don't think they will go for it. The ferry crossing for my 8 passenger car with 9 occupants was almost 1000 Euro.
