a friend of my old mans had to go to manchester from newcastle ( hospital appointment) he phoned the hospital & told them that there was a rail strike proposed so probably wouldn't make it, they told him to get a taxi & they would foot the bill as he needed to be there , so he phoned me & i said i would take him no problem, the rail strike isn't gonna happen now , that's me 200 quid out of pocket

I find this deeply concerning, the NHS is one of the biggest transport providers via the ambulance services in the UK, the PTS per area has many many smaller vehicles and drivers available, a taxi should be the very last option |

I used to do Porthmadog to The Royal at Liverpool, The Orthopaedic at Wrexham, Birmingham Nuffield and Papworth on a regular basis but there was no alternative transport to get to appts on time |
