Are the Police fast becoming just a stupid an irreleveant waste of tax payers money? Yesterday evening at around 4.30, they stormed our ofice in force. Perhaps as many as 100 officers, complete with dogs and armed response group etc. They stormed in, bull in a china-shop fashion, and made us stop doing whatever we were doing. I was sitting at a desk, entering up the account dockets for the week. I was told to take my hands away and sit back in my chair, as two officers stood there to stop me doing anything. The same was happening apparently all around our yard. The road onto the industrial estate where we are was blocked. Clearly, the crime of the century was taking place at our offices. We were not told why or what it was all about, and all our questions were ignored. We were told they had a search warrant, but none of us ever saw it, or were told why we were being searched. We were not allowed to answer the phones, make any calls to solicitors, or anything like that at all. The officer in charge, apparently one Inspector Jacobs, never spoke to any of us. We were all searched, and they started searching many of the cars etc, and went through the place in detail. After about three hours, they just all left. The net result of the search, was nil. However, they did find a small amount of grass (apparently) in the home of one of our contrllers, who was immediately carted off in a police car. The controller was released a few hours later, with no charges being made against him. Despite repeated efforts by our solicitors to find out what the hell it was all about (the Police just stonewalled them), it was not until this afternoon that we heard the story, and here it is: Apparently, one of our competitors, had told the police that we, as a company, were bringing drugs into the Country (on our annual holidays one presumes), and distributing it big time via the taxi operation. The biggest load of bollucks ever heard. How much did this all cost? And its you, the tax payers, who are paying for their incompetance. Are they just stupid? Or is it something far more sinister? I just can't make up my mind. What do you think? |

Well it just beggars belief.
There has to be some sort of complaint you can make. From experience they hate complaints against them. It goes on their records and they can't be promoted until it's settled. I wonder though what you will do when they next ring your office asking for help?

Police complaints board will help you through it Andy, all you'll get back is, we were acting on information given to us by a member of the public we have the right to act. A search warrant must be shown before they search anything belonging to you or your firm. |

"Golden Virginia to be targeted in latest Police Raids" Police in Essex recently raided a taxi firms offices searching for Golden Virginia smokers. A spokesman for the Police said "allo allo allo, whats going on ere then? Didn't you know that smoking is bad for your health?" |

Andy 7 Congratulations mate, well done. The one thing you can learn from this is that your competitor is desperate. Take advantage. No remember that the word will be all over town that you are suspect drug dealers. So I would recommend a bit of PR about the Police harrassment. Big problem is that you can't say they found nothing, which makes it difficult. |

What do you think? yep I believe it, but the police didnt use logical thinking the firm to bust was the firm making the complaint, the police have to show a warrant and you can hold them off for 2 hours, and you are entitled to a solicitor, and they have no right to stop the buisness sue thier arses off. |

First of all, thanks guys for all your moral support. We had the solicitor in today, and he thinks we may have a good case, but he wants to find out more information from the police first. Apparently, they had a Warrant, but "forgot" to show it to any of us. etc etc etc. I will keep you informed. |
