Gus was the only reason we had a Scottish section, he commented on the majority of posts and helped where he could - recent carryings on have led moderators to believe the section was being used almost exclusively to promote certain taxi apps and companies - indeed some members objected to stories involving taxi drivers that may bring the Scottish taxi trade into disrepute. Its almost as if the Scottish taxi trade were actually responsible for taxi driver licensing. So now the Scottish section is in the news section. |

As more Scots voted to stay with us, than voted to leave us on our lonesome, if would be rude not to join up on here into one big happy news family. And really the laws and issues aren't that different whatever side of the wall you are. |

Just because Gus is no longer with us, we are still passionate about this trade and what we have to say. The way Gus always said we can at least we can have our say in the scottish section. If you ask me I think its bad its been put into the news section when he only got burried on friday but thats my opinion I am only his wife and fellow scottish driver. |

I cannot understand as to why it was realistically pulled as it was costing no time and doing no harm. The only thing that I can see is; to me it looks like a falling out, the consequence being is that the toys have been taken away with others being punished. To say it was underused would not be a good reason as there are other sections that do not get used week in, week out. If it makes the community stronger - then imo it is best left well alone. |

considering we run under completely different laws and legislation surely it makes sense for us to have our own system we might all be in the same trade but the 2 countries are poles apart on many things. certainly think we need a Scottish section tbh |

I never agreed with Gus on Scotland's position within the UK. I, thankfully am one of the majority. But that has nothing to do with there being a Scottish section of the forum. To have one is practical, beneficial to all forum members/post readers and no less work for moderators. TBH if moderators are concerned about the content of ''Scottish' posts why not place us in our own naughty corner where it is easier to keep an eye on. Being a member of other forums it is noticeable that Scottish sections have a broader definition of banter and more tolerance of what appears to be 'personal attacks'. All venom and bluster at first but usually the humour wins the day. There are nae stick and stanes oan a forum.! Re the legislation, even if the differences were minimal which they are not, I for one regularly looked in on the forum for advice or information to put to such as Licensing officers. There were often posts from some ill informed source with an English Law perspective or reference which are rather pointless in Scottish enquiries but could be easily identified. It will be a whole lot more difficult and to sort the wheat from the chaff under the one section. Whatever the reason for pulling the plug, Please give us back our Scottish section. |
