A driver has just rang me to say that someone has broken 2 side windows in one of the cars. Police have given a crime number but won't be coming out because there is no blood and no one saw it happen and there is no description. It happened between 02.30 and 06.30

Blood, witness's or not a crime has still occurred and there may be other clues available, it should be investigated, If not why bother having Police in the first place!

It was recently highlighted on the local news that Leicestershire police would not send an officer round for attempted burglary if you lived in a house with an odd number, only if you had an even number. Police are no longer required to investigate what they consider to be minor crime, just record it. In this particular case there will be no forensic evidence because, although the driver had left their sat nav and money in the car, Yes I did tell them how stupid they were, The car was not entered and nothing taken.

I am not sure it is there for anyone at the moment. We get lots of pictures of coppers doing things with and in the community be see very little policing.

I am just thinking that we do not have police for crime, and neither unless it is career enhancing do they want to bother, but if you call somebody names i.e Andrew Mitchell (pleb).....we have coppers here there and everywhere! As said....them .

I once heard a councillor refer to the police as "his police force", as a matter of interest how much influence does your local council have on local police policies?

Not a lot. There is a Councillor on the local police panel which is more of a reporting group than a policy group. We have a crime commissioner for that. Unless a crime is really serious you would need to give the police the name, address, telephone number and inside leg measurement before they will consider taking a look. Unless of course you are out in a taxi at night with a blown headlight. I can guarantee a pull for that.

We take the profits, we stand the losses in this type of situation.

Our insurance is a fleet policy. A claim for glass is still a claim and the whole fleet would get loaded at renewal. Also the glass excess is £350. It cost £220 to replace both windows with a local firm and it was done by lunch time.
