so compulsory nvq for Lincoln hack and ph drivers.

What will that cost?

Put the cost of the course and the drivers loss of earning into your fares formula.

Why? I did the course, along with a few others, for free, in 2011. I warned the others that this day was coming, and now they will, quite literally, pay the price, of ignoring good advice.

I can retire next year, and it's increasingly likely that I will go sooner rather than later.

Anyone know the going rate for a NVQ in taxi driving?

They can't make it compulsory. Ask about the other councils and Taxi Drivers and see what they did to drive these cowboys out of town.

Ask the licensing officer to take the test and lead by example. They'll soon can it. It's an insult to you and the years you've been driving.

I made and appearance at one of these Not Very Qualified sessions, I asked the turbomong who was taking the session if he'd ever driven a Taxi? Had he ever been out there at night working? Had he ever been in a situation where his life was in danger? Had he ever had anyone do a runner on him? What job did he do before he was a so-called tester? What is the formula of the test?

He packed his man bag and fucked off.

TEST, It is not a test. It is training.

The bloke who done my NVQ training was a sheffield taxi driver in his spare time.

Having seen and read of the standards of a lot of cab drivers driving, I am all in favour of some other test of driving standards for so-called professional drivers.

it's test "grandad" at the end of two days (ca. 7 hrs. each) training... I've done it in 2010 on a third time lucky but my first attempt was in 2007 with people from taxi company which disapeard a day after they started, second attempt somwhere in 2008 pretty much the same then 2010 with people from company I work with and they're doing that 'till now. when I first started cost of that course was £500 refunded to course provider by some of government agency (probably that's why they disapeard so quickly), the last one was the same (price) but done professionally and they refunded £75 a day to each of us as a loss of earnings...
