Yesterday afternoon a car pulled off front rank as the next car started to pull down along comes a car at speed and tries to dive into the gap result minor RTA drivers start sorting things out and then along comes a passer by who insists that it must be the taxis fault as they were not indicating !!! all hell breaks lose but police won't respond neither vehicle has more than a slight mark BUT car driver now wants to make a claim based on this witness. Driver hasn't bothered although i had a bit of a go at the witness suggesting he would be committing fraud by doing so.

BUT is he right are we supposed to put our indicators on when moving forward on the rank ? Does anybody know of any case law that covers this ? I'm pretty sure there's nothing in the highway code

If the driver stays within the road markings for the rank I don't see why an indicator should be used, he's pulling forward and not changing direction.

Other motorists would think you were intending to pull out in the road if you indicated.
There's some fvckin real busybodies about.

We used to have private cars pull onto the official hackney rank, except as its on private land, the cops couldnt move the cars on...

(i dont refer to the car parked on the footpath, rather where the hacks are sitting)

all that land is owned by a multi millionaire, the car park cant go pay and display as he wont let anyone earn off his land

on private land? dream on, they cant move travellers without a court order either

The car making the manoeuvre to stop on the rank is at fault I bet he too wasn't indicating his intentions, driving straight ahead is not considered a manoeuvre in an RTA situation, counter claim seems best solution
