£1090 F/C with windscreen, £500 excess (inc excess cover) £10M public liability and protected NCD, AXA policy as only they would protect the no claims due me making a claim (got 7 years NCD/8 years badged)

I thought it would cost more.....

Protected no claims isn't worth the money, I had a vandalism claim on mine, it went up £500 with protected no claims.

yes because you were deemed a greater risk, but without the no claim bonus protection it would have gone up a grand...so overall you still won

Why deemed a high risk? It's a low crime area with hardly any crime.
