I have a list of how long it takes to process application for all licenses in Bournemouth. Does anyone have such information for their Council? |

Licencing in Sefton is factored out to the One-Stop-Shop which is an amalgamation between the private sector and the Council. In other words the One-Stop gets paid per item whether it be issuing a hackney licence or dealing with Council Tax etc. A simple drivers licence (and I don't mean for simple drivers!) would take no more than 20 mins.providing everything was there for it to be issued. The way it works at the one-stop-shop is that you walk in, give your name and tell them the reason you are there (taxis), take your seat and wait to be called, usually within 10-15 mins. Once called to your booth you hand over the reminder you will have received in the post to the person dealing with you, they will scan it and then start to make out your new licence. When this is done they will give you a bill for the fee due. This is taken to an automatic money machine, paid in and a receipt is printed out. You take the receipt back to the booth. By then the computer will have printed out your new licence, placed your details on record and will have automatically printed out the details that are to be laminated to your new licence plate or badge. This takes no more than 20-30mins. at the most, or if you re in a hurry you can leave all your paperwork and a cheque at the front desk and they will ring you later for you to pick up your licence. If it is 10 or so licences it will probably be the next day. There are 11 booths in total in Bootle, One is a dedicated taxi booth but all the rest can process a licence if necessary. There is also a one-stop-shop in Southport. It's all down to the computer programme |
