A blind woman was asked to leave a restaurant in Coventry, after being told she could not have her guide dog inside the building.

Holly Scott-Gardner, 22, filmed staff at PGR Restaurant in Coventry as they told her to go outside.

Despite the university student insisting it was illegal to turn her away, the staff refused service.

PGR Restaurant later said staff were unaware of the law around guide dogs.

Ignorance of the LAW is not a valid defence, the restaurant owners and staff should be prosecuted the same as what occurs with TAXI drivers and operators who refuse their service to a blind person and their guide dog.

The owner of the restaurant, Majed Bahgozen, was called and Ms Scott-Gardner was asked to leave the guide dog outside, dine outdoors or go elsewhere.

I doubt they would do something that extreme as they have apologised etc etc. but if it happens again

Why should they not consider action against the restaurant people,an apology by a TAXI/private hire operator does not save them from being taken to court and it being recorded for consideration in any future license application, the LAW should not differentiate between instances such as this.

What is good for one is good for the other.

People aren't restricted just because they're blind. A guy I know is blind and has a guide dog, he can pretty much do anything a sighted person can do including using a mobile phone, using Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites.
