Taxi Driver Online

I have been approached by a chap who used to be a taxi driver here a few years ago and he is applying for his badge again and want to know if we will give him a job. However the problem is that last time he was a driver he did something that no one is sure what but he ended up with a caution for sexual harassment against a customer. This was about 9 years ago and he says he only put his hand on her shoulder to console her when she was upset.
Question is would you give him the benefit of doubt and take him on assuming he gets his badge.

Accepting a caution is an admission of guilt,a good reputation as one assumes you have can be lost in the blink of an eye.

surely if his police record check is ok he would be fine? if you don't take him , well someone else will, suppose its up to you & your morals personally tbh

Give him a months trial because of his caution and mention that to him, if he behaves give him a start permanently.

just send him on OAP work

You could always do you own DBS check on him, or get him to print off an up to date one.

Have the council licensed him?

He has not submitted his application yet. He has spoken to an officer who told him to submit the application and it would go before the committee.

I don't think he would do anything at all but as Heathcote says the company reputation could be lost when tongues wag. There are many drivers here who would love to put poison down against our company.

confused i am

Grandad isnt a "authorised regulatory body" so how would he do a DBS check? is being a taxi owner a "authorised body" to even request a DBS, and how would the guy print off an upto date DBS?


what he COULD do is pay £10 at a police station for a police check.
