Just a quick one but can anyone shed any light on the cost of car rental and radion rental from private hire operators.

The reason being is that all the PH drivers in Swindon seem to think we pay over the odds for the rental prices.

Not being nosey but just wondered if people were willing to post how much they pay for their car and radio rental and what area they are from.

Would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

I suspect the range is huge from £70 to £170. Some even might pay more via a % instead of a fixed rent.

But really does it matter? Shouldn't the issue be about how much is in your pocket at the end of the week, not how much rent you pay.

If an operator could double my takings then I would gladly pay him three times what I pay at present.

Up in Aberdeen you are £180/£200 for the car & £105/£120 for the Radio. This is per week.

Glasgow Private Hire is....

£101pw for Radio

£130pw for 4 Seat Car (£300 Insurance Excess)

£150pw for 6 Seat People Carrier (£300 Insurance Excess)

(All Private Hire)

No percentage of your earnings are taken off you - you pay the above and struggle to make a living for yourself thereafter

But Charlie what about car maintenance?

Are you leasing/buying or renting. If so what terms do you rent on? Notice etc.

Thats for renting mate.

Repairs are included (inc Tyres)

Notice Period is Two weeks

I personally have my own car, but used to own a few and rent them out.

The above prices are direct from Glasgow Private Hire - who have cars to rent (53 plate Pug 406, Skoda Octavia, Ford Galaxy and New Octavias arriving soon - they ordered 50)

You make it sound as if its really that bad. If it is then the driver can go out and get his/her own car, own insurance and pay for their cars maintenance.

regards

You can buy a brand new Skoda for £40 a week, with a three year warrenty, and insure it for £20-50 a week.

Add you radio rent to it, and you will get a lot of change from £315.

Unfortunatly not everyone is in the position of being able to get credit for a new car, ie. bad credit history etc.

Unless you know a place that will, if so let me know
