Yesterday on a trip to Edinburgh I was overtaken by the First Tesla S I have ever seen on a UK road, It overtook me at great speed and with phenomenal acceleration, I've never seen anything that fast under acceleration other than on a race track It spooked the hell out of me as I took in its beautiful graceful lines as they disappeared over the Horizon of Soutra Hill..I was mightily Impressed.

Then today at the opposite end of of the electric spectrum I got stuck along with another four cars in front of me behind a Citroen C Zero which tootled along the road at between 30 and 35 MPH and blocking the road for all, It looked for all the world like a white Suppository and was travelling at the same speed as one, the driver a real pain in the arse as well, quite content to hold up traffic for mile after mile on a 60 MPH road at 30MPH..totally oblivious to all other road users who had to be somewhere sooner than themselves. I was mightily unimpressed

I've seen one or that one around Edinburgh gorgeous car too. I was beside the little one that looks like a lotus Elise a while back and it hammered off from the lights while you could still hear a pin drop, if I remember correctly it done a lap time on top gear. I'm not into cars modded with noisy exhausts but there's something missing if a porsche doesn't Grrrrr an imprezza doesn't burble a Ferrari dosent scream its just part of the sports car experience.

We have a local Tesla, bigger than a Superb, looks like a Maserati i thought, pity they are £45K to £65K

there is a new smaller model, not seen that yet

Quote:
Following the launch of the new Tesla Model 3, we took the briefest of rides with Doug Field, Tesla's Vice President of Engineering, at the wheel. Doug was kind enough to floor the accelerator pedal during our quick jaunt, and the Model 3 leapt to an indicated 60mph in what felt like around four and a half seconds, with the torquey, jet-like acceleration typical of electric cars.

Doug told us we were riding in one of the dual-motor all-wheel-drive cars, which offers better traction and performance than the basic rear-drive car. An impromptu slalom showed that body lean was well controlled - no surprise with the battery and motor mounted so low - but until we get our own hands on the wheel, we'll have to reserve judgment on the Model 3’s handling.

Once our internal organs had returned themselves to their native positions, we took in the Model 3's interior, which is so simple as to be nearly stark. The cabin is dominated by a large touchscreen; it's mounted horizontally rather than vertically as in other Teslas, giving the appearance that someone has left a laptop on the dashboard.

Ive had one on a test drive, they are rapid. Off the mark they are faster than a £1million super car. They are the car of the future. Thirteen pence for 300 miles isn't to shabby

What I can't understand is why other electric cars can't produce figures like the Tesla. Tesla have told all the other manufacturers that they are free to use the same battery and charging systems but none of them have.

They drive good too Cap. Test drive one for the day, you'll love them.
