I've got it, just a 12v video recorder in the glove box and an IR camera sat on my mirror (total cost about £180) it certainly cuts down on the potential aggro, but the women tend to play up to it sometimes. I can swing/rotate it to face front/side as well as into the car which is handy if your pulled/see an accident etc.
As long as you have a sign that Audio/Video recording is taking place it's totally legal to have it.

It's more of a deterent than anything else,prevention better than cure and all that.

Both came mail order in 2 days, there's various cams available mines a bullet cam.
Just pop in a 4hr tape and put it on long play (8hrs)

Some use a hard drive but they're mega expensive (£600+) and according to local plods they're unlikely to be thrown out of court because of no date/time stamp if they show an assault.
But you must notify customers you have it (small stickers)

Btw, i dont have a screen. i just re-wind the tape when it's full and start again, unless there's something on it i want to see.
When i'm empty i swing it forward facing and veiw all the near misses i have!!!!

Quite right, and the more drivers that have CCTV the better IMHO.

Not just that but the council and the gov are sharing the costs with the drivers. :shock:

Hey I got cctv fitted, got "Cabeye" digital, fit and forget with memory card.
After 12 years of using "Cabeye" only have ever had use for it on two incidents to which police required video, now video is going out, if I need to get a copy for the police I have to put a portable tv with video inside the cab, search about for the incident to which was on the media card, recordings stopped and turned off within 3 hours of the incident,after that it would be automaticaly wiped if did not put on stop
it seems as tho video is slowy but surely coming to an end, at the moment all I do is connect scart lead, video out from record unit, connect scart to tv+recorder, then tape.

Now what I want to know is.....

does anyone know of any other options to which I could use,legaly, ie connect "video out" to pc [computer] plus use which or what programme, then in the same breath would this then be admissable in a court of law, as it is known you can "doctor" images with pc

All that would happen is it would be examined by an expert to see if it had been tampered with just like a video would.
You see it all the time on the police programmes on the telly, video etc being used to convict.
Mine was used once in court to convict a woman (mine was facing front at the time) and it was accepted without a problem.
The only thing is you have to inform passengers (small notice in the car)that you are recording. Anything it picks up outside the vehicle is classed as incidental and doesnt infringe human rights as long as your in a public place and not pointing up at someones bedroom window!!
Ive found it stops people even thinking about causing problems, they dont even talk about fights/drugs or anything illegal any more. just sit there all nice and quiet till they get home.
Drunk women sometimes to show off (you know what i mean, get em out for the lads) when they see the the camera but i can cope with that!

unles you work in glasgow that is :D the council here prefer their drivers to get stabbed instead.

I don't suppose for one minute that the council give one hoot for any Taxi or PH driver on the road, you need to be one step ahead, rollocks to them its your life, you need all the protection you can get, certainly I know from experience the fitting of cctv camera equipment, and making sure that the customer notices the equipment you will have less trouble or even no trouble at all. I can't believe in this day and age a Council stops a driver installing something like this, the idiots don't perform, the dealers don't do business, if the passsenger in the vehicle know they are being cctv'd they sit tight and act normal

I think i mentioned on this forum many months ago that one one particular drive out of town i popped into a service station for something to drink and picked up a small twin mini strobe light that looked identical to a pair on mini cameras. It had adhesive under the stand and i just stuck it on the dash right next to the vents. I noticed immediately the change of ``character` and attitude of the passengers, even the nice ones lol,,who would sit tight lipped and say nothing, the folk who looked more likey to cause hassles whispered to their mates instead of making fools of them selves, and the ``can i roll a joint ???`` request was never heard again.
As for local councils, well :? we wil leave that for another post.

and almost forgot to mention the night i took 4 lads back home about 30 miles out of glasgow, they saw some of their mates over in their own town cnetre when we got their,,,they all jumped out of the car at the traffic lights, knowing full well they hadnt paid the fair yet, expecting me to be [edited by admin] scared to say anything,,i pulled over by the side and told the lads that i will be popping round to the police station that i could see at the end of the street and wil be handing the ``video tape` of their faces and voices if they are going to start f*****g around with me, . When they realised that their ugly mutts were actually staring into the camera, the inevitable,,,[edited by admin] mate im sorry i thought so and so paid you and all that crap,,saved me losing a fair and a possible beating too lolol,,,,
