how long will it take for the black cab drivers to admit defeat & move to uber then ? there cabs ( i know they paid/pay a lot of cash for them) will be worthless, no taxi driver would buy them after all & just buy a saloon or whatever , so not only have uber cut there income, its also made there vehicles worthless ( unless they sell in another city that meet the colours ), i give it another 2 years & the capital will be uber only , as will be most big cities, don't think it will do anything where i work & if they do , by the time they "kick in " i will be retired anyway , its a shame though, still the black cabs have had it there own way for a while, its just competition really & uber seem to be doing better tbh |

You'd have to ask the London hacks where they get the majority of their work from, flagdowns or sitting on a rank ? Last time I was in London (15 years ago) there were black cabs everywhere, no need to use an app or phone anyone - just walk to the edge of the road, stick your hand out and within a few seconds you were in a cab. If they're kept busy, never waiting more than a short while between dropping off and getting their next flagdown I can't see it making much difference. The only threat is if Uber are significantly cheaper (are they ?), would people rather wait for however long it takes an Uber to turn up just to save a couple of quid or just get an almost instant flagdown ? |

Basically uber is just another pH operator ,drivers love new comps first of all then they realise that the comp is putting more and more drivers on and work goes gradually down.A new boy or system will come along.Hack work as gone down over the years cos it's a different world ppl don't go out in midweek, no big factories etc.At the weekend in big cities black cabs will remain but,it will never be !Ike it use to be.pH work is also not like it use to be .hacks r doing more pH work which they never bothered with before. Black cabs will survive but will have more kippers for tea |

Result. ![]() I have got to be honest....if I were a London cabby and with the volume of people in that City - I have enough savvy to be doing what I would expect to earn. I did not do too bad In Cardiff, in London I would be very wealthy -.just a bit of thought and planning.......it is as they say "Not rocket science". |

Seen it with the Edinburgh City Private Hire, billboards ,papers everywhere advertising 20% off standard taxi rates, yes they were busy for a while until it Soon became common knowledge punters were often paying more. As a hackney getting most business from street hails and rank work and the vehicle alone being highly recognisable as a TAXI, the uber app would just run as a background add on, I would only consider a job if I was dragged to the suburbs and it was a job back in, bearing in mind I'm loosing 25% of my fare. Uber drivers are bound to the app therefore these drivers must be really desperate ,why not work in McDonald's?????? I heard Ubers a godsend in south Africa, and I believe that , we will have to see in the UK. Would many parents be happy about their daughters being brought home in the early hours using the Uber app? |

Would many parents be happy about their daughters being brought home in the early hours using the Uber app? why not? there is a trail after all, unlike a flagdown where there is nothing |
