Got a call today from a chap who claimed he worked for another taxi company and had passed a booking for one of his regular customers to us last Thursday. Something wasn't right about the call and when I challenged him he got very uppity and started demanding what are you gonna do about it etc. The long and the short is that he seemed to assume i would know all about the booking and which driver etc. I phoned the taxi company back and was told no driver of that name worked there and they have no record of any booking being passed to us at that time on the day shift but will not be able to contact night driver until Friday. The number was with held and it is probably a false name But I am very annoyed and want to do something about him. We have contacted the police who are coming to interview me tonight the council says it is out of their hands but I can see the authorities deciding to do nothing

Firstly I am very unhappy about the accusation and at the very least want to establish that there is nothing happened between one of my drivers and a passenger. I have little to go on as no details of the journey were given

The phone number was withheld how do I get hold of that information if the police decide to brush this under the carpet ?

Is there any way I can compel this individual to appear in a court room and explain his actions or at least establish who he is and if he has any connections to a competitor other than through the police ?

That probably made some sense to you when you wrote that but as a reader of it I have no idea what you are trying to say

I think you are wasting your time and money. Firstly, if a complaint had been made it would have been made to the council or the police. When ever I receive a complaint of any description the first thing I tell the complainant is that I can't comment on the allegation until I have spoken to whoever is being complained about. I Also insist that the complaint must be in writing with full contact details.
My advice would be to do nothing until you are contacted again.

No, but the police can.

This appears to me as a malicious call, and they are more serious an offence than most people realise.

Ring the police and make a complaint.
