Its the councils way of testing to see if you are honest

so what do they hope to gain given they will have site of my current live DBS anyway?

A tingle in the groin from knowing they've used their miniscule amount of power to cause some inconvenience to someone else. They lead sheltered, lonely lives and this is the only way they can get their thrills, they're at the bottom of the chain in the office and so need to take out their frustrations on someone else.
