Post subject:  Biggest Earner!

This week I made a large sum of money returning lost or left items to the correct owners by charging the fare in some cases back to them and or rewards.
Here is a list of things that where left in my Hackney carriage last 2 weeks.

14 mobile phones
3 laptops.
1 suitcase unknown contents (non ticking!)
3 visa debit cards.
1 Gold chain.
1 earing.
3 shotgun shells.
2 x pack of chewing gum.
2 cheque books.
2 condoms
and a half eaten Mcdonalds big breakfast in the passenger door tray.

Rewards fares and tips made for returning items. £236-80

What do I do with the items that were not financially viable to return?

Start a sweet shop?

Kindest regards Alchy

MERY XMAS ALL!

well we are in a total rural area and they like to go out and get completly blotto. Most times they ask you to take the money out of their wallet from their pocket.
Being rural i guess they are all Farmers and they go shooting alot. I actually saw this guy get out and 12 or so bullets fell from his pocket. He staggerd back in and grabbed the majority of them leaving a few left in the back slit of the seat.

Could be a dangerous practice taking money out of a punter's wallet. One of these days the drunken farmer might inform the police that you robbed him. lol

What would be your defence if the police asked you, "did you take money from this mans wallet". Would you say yes I did, or no I didn't? Then the police said to you, one of the farmer's friends has made a statement stating "the farmer got into the Taxi with a hundred pounds in his wallet". The police then inform you that the farmer has made a statement stating, "that when he got home his wallet was light of ninety pounds". Add to that, the fact that the only place the farmer had been was in your taxi and the only person to venture into his wallet was you, and you possibly have crime based on circumstantial evidence.

I doubt you would be found guilty but it is the thought of being under suspicion and the bad smell it might leave behind that is the legacy you would have to live with for the rest of your life?

Just a hypothetical situation and one which I'm sure you could handle but worth considering none the less.

Regards

JD

Had a GLASS EYE once.
Honest!
We havethe account for a local mental hospital and i took this patient and her escort back from our main hospital and got a call 1'2 hr later to "look in your car for a glass eye, it might have rolled under your seat"

NO WAY was i looking under my seat to see an eye looking back at me!!
I drove back and let them look for it. (they found it).

Ewww think I'd have done the same

What gets me is the tight gits who leave stuff in the car and refuse to pay for it to be returned, "I'm not paying that much I'll pick it up from the office tomorrow" types, they make me fume

Even worse are the ones that expect you to bring it back gratis, and seem to think that it's your fault.

I always glance into the back seat when people get out. This has saved a lot of hassle with lost property, but of course the items can still be out of sight.
