27 th July 1951, and my dear old Mum delivered me into the world.

And so here I am sixty five years later wondering where the time went.

I don't intend retiring just yet, unless one of Mrs Brown's boys makes me an offer I can't refuse.

I will be even more part time than I have been though, and nights and weekend working are a long distant memory.

I'm in good health, have a wonderful wife and family, super grandchildren and lots of good memories, and plans for the future, including more time with the local Conservative association.

Might spend a little less time being opinionated on here, but don't intend falling off my perch just yet.

You'll all be the first to know when I do.

Meanwhile, taking TT's advice, I'm off on the gargle!

Be lucky, Jimbo.

Still at it. About fourteen pints credit at the Hop and Barley, Lincoln's newest pub to wade through.
