Having given up on regular private hire, I've just got myself a decent 2nd hand Range rover, top-of-the-range spec, and am thinking of using it as a secondary bit of my vintage bus wedding business by using it as a wedding car. Is it really worth the hassle of getting a ph licence or easier to use the "wedding car" exemption from licencing?

If its to be used only as a Wedding car then why make a rod for your own back by making it a PH...only the Insurance company will get fatter off the back of your efforts.

Belive it or not the step into a Range Rover is lower than the step into a Kia Sedona. 8)

Depends if you had a P38 Range Rover or the later L322. I've had both, and the P38 was lower headroom. The seat in the L322 is fully adjustable, lots of legroom and headroom for me, providing you're not confusing the "proper" Range rover with the "sport" which looks like a Monty Python 20 ton weight has been dropped on it.

The choice was, when my Skoda Octavia (licenced p/h) went back after the 3 year lease expired, I had that lease fee to "play" with. I could have got another Skoda, but the seat wasn't comfortable enough for me, and an 8 year old Range Rover with low mileage was cheaper per month! My last Rangie had nearly 250,000 miles on the clock, had it from new, and is 'showing its age".

The 3.8 V8 diesel has got a bit of "go" in it.
