Didn't even know these existed until I went past one doing 30, just assumed it would be 30 while passing then I noticed a sign saying 20 a little further up, didn't see a flash.. Lol just my luck where do I stand with this? Got 0 points at the moment, likely to get 3/Speed awareness course?

Go back over same road, see if the sign before the camera was 30mph or 20mph.

This site says its 30, possible it only flashes if over 30 even though it's a 20 zone?

I think for a speed awareness course it would have to be less than 5 mph over the given speed limit - however I could be wrong.

20MPH ones don't exist, I could be wrong though but I'm sure they only flash on a thirty. There could be signs with the 20MPH sign and a camera there but I doubt they'll flash just over 20MPH

The link I posted says they're over 30mph, possible the limit is 20 but only enforceable past 30? I read elsewhere gatso only work above 30 aswell

There are no devices approved by the Home Office for use below 30mph, so even if it did flash it's not enforceable.
Probably just left from when the limit used to be 30.

The only cases I've heard of prosecutions for exceeding a 20mph limit is where the offender was doing more than 30mph anyway. No-ones ever been done for doing between 20-30mph in a 20 zone, unless anyone knows different ?

Fingers crossed anyway, I think the road may have been reduced to a 20 zone and the cameras have just been left there as a deterrent maybe..

ISTR reading on Pepipoo that there are no Home Office approved devices for 20 mph. Best go on Pepipoo and ask the question there.

They can't flash into oncoming traffic so you will be OK, also not sure what the threshold is in Merseyside but in Lancashire it's 10% plus 3mph before prosecution.

The road was a 30mph one before all these 20mph ones were introduced, the camera was there before the drop in the speed limit.

I take it you're not based in Southport?
