hi all

was in Birmingham Airport dropping off someone and was talking to another driver from wolverhampton. Anyway he was telling me the issues has had picking up from that airport as his number plate keeps coming up as banned. Apparently some weeks back he was taking a woman to the airport who had a disabled badge with her and asked him to park in the disabled bays while he dropped her off and then she took the badge after he paid for the ticket and off they both went.

The issue was according to him was that the taxi shouldn't be parked in a disabled bay , so now he has to explain himself to there parking people.

was he in the wrong?

If the passenger has a Blue badge then the vehicle parking in the disabled bay has done nothing wrong, the badge is issued to the disabled person not to a particular vehicle.

If he had dropped the Blue Badge holder off at a more convenient point to where she needed to be and then drove off and parked up in a disabled bay without the Badge holder in the vehicle then he would fall foul of Parking in a Disabled bay without a Blue Badge holder being with him...if not then no he's innocent.

No.

Get the disabled person to directly contact the people concerned.

NO as per Heathcote the badge is issued to the individual NOT the vehicle I have parked in a disabled bay at airports before now when taking a disabled passenger who had a blue badge never had an issue

that said Apcoa who run the parking at BHX are sods two of my drivers have been issued penalties dropping people off at the hotels before now even though you are supposed to be able to do that
