what's cab direct like for finance then ? although i never had a problem with credit, ever, when the bairn died i lived in Newcastle, he lived in chesterfield, i packed my job in driving tankers ( & that's why im back in the taxi trade) & used what savings i had travelling & staying in hotels, that ran out so maxed out my Barclaycard for 3 k, got in the chit, paid it off but that was 8 years ago, apparently it takes 10 to get off your credit report, just wondered how "lenient" they were or am i gonna get my eyes pulled out ? done the clearscore thing & my rating is 406 , although, i just got a new phone a couple of weeks ago , on a different carrier & while in the shop the bloke from ee took all my details & said " ok mate, just gonna do a experian check & alls good" came back & i got the phone , i know fook all about this stuff, like i say, never had a problem until that happened, i need a newer motor ffs

Everything is cleared from your credit report after six years.

Ring them up and ask, you have nothing to lose.

The only issue that could pop up is if you apply for loads of stuff all in a short period, that could go against you.

In other words don't go to every dealer as a separate search record is made.

The folks on the Money Saving Expert forum are the experts (funny enough), and they have loads of info.

There are some loans companies that do soft searches, in that the search doesn't leave a record.

But as I said above ring up cab direct or the taxi centre, they both know the score in respect of our trade.

If you have done a Clearscore then you would have seen that the 8 year thing wasn't there.

But that score means sweet FA, as they don't loan to anyone.

All loan companies have different lending criteria.

i was told , although it wont show up on clearscore, if any finance companies did a search ,it would show up as "settled" obviously meaning there was a problem but it was settled , like i say mate i honestly have no idea at all about this stuff, never had a problem in the past

Car companies are such greedy sods they will fall over backwards to get you the loan. Anyway there is only one way to find out - if it happens, it happens, if it doesn't = nowt to lose.

Having said that a new cab comes with a hidden price! Many people take on a new cab because they see it as trouble/cost free. Unfortunately not taking on board that the every 2/3 months trouble/cost that they now have - is now a 5 years ish definite monthly payout/cost. In effect you will be increasing your overheads.

You'll be OK with Cab Direct, if they can get Taxi Drivers finance they can get anyone finance. A lad round here is useless with money, CCJ's all over the place and he's just got a car on the chuckie from Cab Direct. His latest CCJ was last year, he got the car just after Christmas.

One or two searches in a matter of days will make no difference.

Ring them up and treat yourself to a new car.

The main thing they look for is proof of earnings I.e.cash going in and out your bank account .it really improves your score if you have a credit card that is regularly paid off

Until recently my wife and I had no credit cards or loans. My wife has the mortgage and we have a mobile phone account each. Because of this we both had really low credit scores. So we decided to do what edders mentioned above. We didn't want to have a credit card and because we had no history of paying back credit, because we had none, it was not easy to get a card. We did get a really crap card each and we spend around £50 - £100 per month on them and pay the full balance each month. In only a few months we have both moved up to very good scores.

Cab Direct don't do credit checks they just verify your identity. All you have to do is send in a couple of bank statements and jobs a gud un.

Unlike other credit if you default on the payments they just come and take the car off you, I think that's why they're a bit more lenient on credit scores etc.

Who told you that? They do carry out credit checks which is why my wife and I had to get our credit cards. They could not get us credit for a vehicle because we had no credit history top speak of. The finance they have provided to us through one of the other company directors have been standard HP through Toyota for one of our cars and a personal loan through Santander for another so they have nothing to do with the finance.
