Hello all. I'm currently thinking of a career change. I'm working in a factory at the moment and fancy going for taxi driving. I've obtained all the neccessary forms etc, and just looking around for a suitable car. The only thing i need to know is, as i'm currently earning 20k a year, does anyone know if this figure is achievable doing taxi driving? Any help will be great thanks.

Hi mate, you'd need to find out what the earnngs are in your neck of the woods. I would think 20k is quite acheivable in most areas though, but it's quite a big outlay to start off with.
It's no good if you like your weekends in the pub though!

I dont mind doing the weekends they aren't a problem, at the moment i do 6-2, 2-10 and 10-6 and the job is repetitive and boring! Plus with taxi-ing my partner can get a job and i can work my hours around hers?

Better still get your partner a license, and you take it easy. :D

But in the taxi/PH trade you can earn as much or as less as you like. But do you want to work 24/7?

There's some pointers as regards wages in our FAQ, but it's impossible to quantify.

You could well top £20k, but that would probably mean working most Friday and Saturday nights.

And if you think your factory job is 'repetitive and boring', wait until you've driven a taxi for a few years
