We have been using the paypal one for sometime now with no problems
you just have to remember to turn off the radio so the reader connects to your phone
you can also use the app without the reader

is there none that just swipe to an app ON the phone rather than use a reader connected to the phone?

I'm told by a geek relative that the touching of phones will be the next thing.

You can already make contactless payments by phone.

It's also possible to make a payment with a simple text message, Barclays Pingit being one example.

It can't be far away to touch phones together, job done.
