Consumers have less than three months to spend, bank or donate round £1 coins as the new 12-sided version outnumbers the old for the first time.

The Treasury says there are now more of the new £1 coins, which first entered circulation in March, than the old round pound.

From 15 October, shops can refuse the old version of the coin.

You had to spend your old paper fivers before midnight on May 5.

The old fashioned cotton paper notes are now no longer be legal tender, which means you won’t be able to buy anything with them.

actually YES because at Stansted the airport parking machines won't take the new ones !!!!!!

I suspect that it isn't the only place the new ones don't work

There was real madness at Luton airport as the machines don't take new pound coins so they had raise the barriers
