after waiting 5 weeks for my crb check to come back I went down to my licencing dept. to book my ph drivers test (knowledge of area) and have now been told earliest slot is second week in March !!!!!

No wonder people get [edited by admin] off waiting for all the red tape, i'm sure councils have people whose job it to think up more red tape

Could you not have booked the slot a while ago, or will they only book you in once you have you CRB check?

I would write to the council leader asking why you have to wait 6 weeks.

There is nothing stopping you requesting the CRB check before, and if you can get the councils CRB number, then they will send them a copy.

I think. :?

I had my test a week after handing my forms in while awaiting my CRB,
All i had to do then was wait for my CRB to return with the all clear and away i could go.
Diffrent regs for diffrent towns, bit of a joke IMO

i think i might have to draft an emai to my licencing dept highlighting the fact that 3 months from date of aplication to the possible date of getting a badge is a bit excessive. Be a different matter if i didnt pay my council tax for 3 month due to my administation processes!!!!!

My experience with the council is beiginning to tell me that the licensing department is where LA's send all their deadwood.

A bit like being assigned to Outer Mongolia by the Foreign Office if you're a diplomat.
