there are a couple of occasional posters from that area you might try using the search on stories from the glasgow area and see who posted on them

I think one goes under the forum name josefblogz ?

I would approach any of the main/big PH companies who more than likely will run courses re exams, plus anything else that you will need to know - they will guide you through the process.

Go and knock on the doors of the big firms.

They will be delighted to take you on once licensed.

paddy, you just go to the cooncil, pays yer money and thats it.
if you pass the background checks you will get your badge, but right now theres a very long waiting list.up to 6 months to process your application,
once your all official you just approach any private hire company you choose and ask them for a radio, there are loads of p/h companies in glasgow, some good, some very bad,
there are no courses cos private hire dont have to sit any kind of test, hell you dont even have to speak english,
just part with your dosh and thats it.
i wish you well but be warned its not the cash cow its portrayed as,its long hard hours for little reward and the public think they own you
and treat you like keech but theres always the occaisional day when you think this is the best job in the world, but there few and far between.but like every job its what you make it

good luck

yes, city council hopeless, except when it comes to taking money from you, licensing dept is notorously slow,3 to 4 months to issue renewals, but dont be a day late posting your renewal, you can still keep working and if your stopped by enforcement you have to produce your receipt,up to 6 months for licence applications,as of now there are over 1000 licence applications waiting to be processed

radios circa £135 per week ,cars around £165
these are rough guides, and not every firm offer cars for rent, usually all the bigger firms do as they make alot more money renting out cars, smaller outfits usually dont have the resources to buy cars in bulk like the big boys, drive out to gph on edinburgh rd and see how many cars are sitting outside, these are all waiting for renters, same at network and hampden
