One of drivers turned up in a 55 plate Merc e220 cdi, [what made you put that on then]

Only just found out that he had had his old Merc badly damage by another vehicle pulling out of side road
The insurance company said you can have a replacement till its sorted out or written off

The insurance company called Dunning Wood [http://www.taxi-mart.co.uk/accident3.aspx ] was the insurance company, the
hire company asked him whats the make of the damaged motor, ok, they supplied a 55 plate Merc and got it plated, it was sat on his drive a few days later ready for work

Now what I want to ask is,
How does this work, has anyone done this??
The Council want your name in the log book, but this is a hire vehicle
Does Westminster Taxi Insuranc offer the same, ie. replacement vehicle

Do you know what kind of ID plates they use in his area ?

I would be suprised if the hire company were okay with holes being drilled into the bumpers like you have to do here

Many firms do this, and they do very well out of it. Maybe up to £100 a day rental.

Usually they do all the paper work icluding radio and meter fitting, signage and licensing. I would have thought it would have been a tad difficult with a cab in a restricted area, but if the council has been flexible then well done to them.

Some of the firms down here have the same vehicles licensed in up to a dozen areas. One day HC in one area, the next day PH in another.

Great system, but must be costing the insurance companies millions. JD did put up the case which made all this happen a few weeks ago.
