well nowhere near me so should be  and generally drier and sunnier than the south coast

I was checking out potential holidays last week but was getting prices quoted for a solo traveller of between £1700 to £2500 for 7 days

Think i'll go back to cruising it's much cheaper than a package holiday maybe Norweigian Fjords but they all seem to want to sell you mediterranean cruises at the moment and I would like somewhere different. Certainly am not risking trying to get past the border police into Scotlandshire !

there's something about modern purpose built resorts that renders them soul less and lacking authenticity

well train tickets bought so on monday am heading off to Gatwick to fly out to malta for 7 nights so won't be posting on here for about 8 days. Hopefully the weather will be a lot less rainy with plenty of history and culture to see and experience.

temperatures averaged around 17 C so pleasantly warm for exploring and only a few rain showers mostly at night so perfect for exploring and sightseeing. buses cost 2.50 euros whether you go a few stops or 10 miles ! Lots of spectacular fortified towns and cities with great views from the battlements reasonably priced food in the restaurants beer 4 euros a pint.

and for Stuart some taxi facts and observations:

There are 250 hackneys on malta all white saloon and have number plates starting with the word taxi. PH is dominated by Bolt ,ecabs and Uber with bolt probably having around 70+ percent share based on counting the number of bolt vehicles as opposed to e cabs and uber driving past my balcony over a half hour period. You hardly ever saw an uber but when walking around Valletta would always see Bolt cars driving around. E cabs were based in St Julien and were common around there but only saw 2 ubers all holiday.

So Bolt have got Malta tied up? Wonder why that would be? Maybe they got there before Uber - 'first mover advantage', I think the economists call it.

Anyway, glad to see you had a good holiday, Edders. When you went quiet I assumed you were off to Malta. Either that, or you'd expired with that cough before you got on the plane :-o

But obviously it was the former rather than the latter :D

I suspect most of the Bolt drivers are on Uber as well, and/or vice versa.

As for rain, fella I took to the airport a few weeks back went to St Lucia, picked him up yesterday and he said it rained every day.

Not all day, but even so, bugger that.
