Dear Operator,
Updated DVSA Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness
As you may be aware, the DVSA have just updated their Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness. I would urge all operators to download a copy and to read through, as there have been a number of changes made; for example, to the guidance on brake testing. The revised guidance is available from:
https://www.safedrivingforlife.info/sites/default/files/guide-to-maintaining-roadworthiness.pdf Whilst the DVSA’s guidance is aimed at PSV and HGV operators, much of the guidance is relevant to operating any type of vehicle including Private Hire Vehicles and Hackney Carriages. Taxi operators are strongly advised to, as a minimum, read through the parts of the guidance concerning daily walk around checks (including monitoring), contracting out maintenance and the key points of a good maintenance system.
Many thanks,
