Anyone else caught up in this scam?

got this text at 10.30 last night....

URGENT MESSAGE - your taxi insurance policy with Alpha Insurance is cancelled with immediate effect. Please contact Protector on 020 74467676 where we will be able to arrange alternative cover.

Can't get through to Protector today. Did get a quote from Quotax cheap enough but I have to have a camera which I'm not at all keen on.

Anyone else found a good alternative?

It would seem Alpha have been having problems for a while. I took my insurance out at the beginning of March ..... No mention of problems from broker

No good asking me, I got caught up in the Enterprise fiasco and now my current insurer ( Catlin) are pulling out of taxi insurance. #-o

Broker won't know anything mate, he'll just get a commission from the company who your insurance is with.

Alpha – which ran UK brands Cover My Cab and Protector – was declared insolvent in Denmark, meaning people's cover ended on May 8.

The company insured 700 taxi drivers and 10,000 private hire vehicles in London alone , according to the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association.

General Secretary of the LTDA, Steve McNamara said: "We have notified all of our members about this change, to ensure that no-one is unintentionally driving without insurance.

"We will be supporting any of our members that may have been affected."

The Danish firm also had motor fleet policies in the UK through Cardiff-based agent Lima.

Considering the FCA we’re informed on the 4th March, I would have thought the broker would have been aware of it and kept clients informed of it like milestone did when enterprise started to get into trouble.

The warnings were there in the trade about Enterprise 6 months before they collapsed but brokers kept selling policies

Since the collapse the parent company has started a new underwriter company

glorified crooks

Brokers are not there for your benefit, they get you the cheapest quote paying the biggest commission in all probability.
