So 128 slabs would leave 12" gap. 136 slabs would fill the lot if you cut 8 of them down to 12". I think

You could...... ..........Smash them up to gravel, mix with cement and water, lay the concoction level, and wait.

It is 16 and 1/3 slabs X 8 slabs. Therefore if you cut 3 slabs carefully into 3 and waste none you will need 131 Slabs and will be left with 1 piece measuring 18" X 12". Probably the middle 1/3 of each slab will not be pretty so you might decide to get 134 slabs and end up with 4 pieces measuring 18" X 12". You might just know that you will break a few and need a few spare. You might just know that you will do it just like me....... .........and end up with crazy paving.

Chris the Fish wrote: It is 16 and 1/3 slabs X 8 slabs. 25ft x 12" = 300" So 16 x 18" slabs = 288" So the final slab would have to be cut to 12", thus 2/3 of the 18" slab?? But you're right - assuming my calculations are correct, it would be possible to fill the last of the 12" gaps with the 6" slabs left over from the first few cut slabs. So cut six slabs to 12", that leaves two gaps, and these could be filled with four of the 6" leftovers, leaving two 6" slabs spare. So you could actually fill the whole lot with 134 whole slabs, but it would look a bit daft, so best to use 136 in total. And that would leave eight 6" x 18" slabs as leftovers. |

If you want one, let me know. About 1000+ will be at a local horse fair early next week. The whole area shuts down commercially for about 3 days. They will probably rip up some paving slabs and bring them to you to help keep your costs down!!!!
