I decided that I would get my bike out and bike to the office. It is only around 1 mile so not to far. Talk about out of condition I had to stop twice on the way because I was out of breath and my legs had turned to jelly by the time I got here. God knows how I am going to get on going home when it is more uphill. If it all goes wrong this may be my last post for a while as I may be in hospital recovering.

Come out with me, I do 26 miles off road and on road. You'll be like a toned Adonis in no time.

My wife has a battery assisted bike but she still has to pedal to keep it going. it is just easier.

Do it every day for a few months and you will feel like a new man.

Or be dead. 8-[

I have been using my wife's bike to do the journey recently. It has an electric motor. You still have to pedal but you get help on the inclines. It is a lot better now because although I don't get so out of breath I can still feel the workout in my legs so I will keep going until I get to the point where I will be able to use my own bike comfortably.

Anyone tried riding a bike after a long period off?

Used to do a lot of cycling as a teenager. Did 70 miles one day as with tent on back, part of camping holiday and we did 200 miles in about five days, which wasn't that easy with a hangover every day.

More recently, had an exercise bike for a few years, but it eventually fell apart.

Thinking about a proper bike more recently, but realise it's best part of 40 years since I've been on one.

So had second thoughts - worried I wouldn't be able to ride it and/or would have to relearn from scratch, which don't know if I could manage now.
