All the local firms operate the same way. I have many times told the company bosses that their company 'rules' make me an employee but they won't have anything to do with it (if you dont like it drive for someone else).
I've warned them many times it will take just one disgruntled driver and a tribunal to bring the company down, with all the legal costs, compensation and back pay that will have to be paid to EVERY driver going back several years. But they stick their heads back in the sand and pretend theres no issue. I've even asked the boss to name just one thing, from the point of logging in to off, that drivers have complete control over without penalty, and they didnt have an answer ! And they still argued I was not an employee.
