picked up off the rank this morning to take a woman to an office in Peterborough. had to look it up on the internet as she didn't know where it was. On the journey she mentioned working for a firm of solicitors which was in a nearby office block hmmmm.................

we got there and then she handed me her business card and said send me an invoice  as apparently she couldn't get her car out of the car park she was in and her cards/handbag are still in the car

I think I have been scammed but we'll see I have done an invoice and sent it to the email addy on the card

Another case where the police should have been involved.
Passenger got into the TAXI knowingly she could not pay the fare at the end of the journey,GUILTY with out a shadow of doubt re FRAUD ACT.

Looked up the name on the card an google and the picture looks a lot like the woman in my car

She is a SENIOR PARTNER at Hegartys Solicitors so maybe this was genuine

As Heathcote says she did break the law

Is that the one who specialises in commercial property?

So, to be fair, she's maybe not familiar with the criminal law

lets see if she pays up first if not I can try going to police but doubt they will do anything especially as they would have strong relationships with the firm

Does she look like any of these ? https://www.hegarty.co.uk/people/ .
I can knock up a business card in a few minutes with my picture saying I'm the US President

Have you tried phoning the solicitors, asking to speak with her and asking when she's paying ?

Ignorance of the Law is not a defence.

Unless she told you before you left that she hadn't any means to pay then she has committed a criminal offence.

The police will definitely do something.

Unfortunately for you, it will be them wetting their pants laughing.
