Post subject:  Hackney with private hire Circuit (PDA)
How does it work?
Worth it with a hack or better just do private hire?
I was speaking to a driver from Milton keynes saying his thinking of joining a private hire circuit as most drivers have.
Would you really pull off a rank to drive around a mile or so to pick up a private job and then drop off at destination for £3-4 (Average local Fare for private hire).
Some circuits are busy you'll hardly have to to even go to a rank, wouldn't it just be better to do private hire?
Your thoughts please and drivers who drive hacks and also have circuits how does it work and is it worth it?

I think if your motor is double shifted then working on a firm makes sense.

Maybe the Uber/MyTaxi way, i.e. pay as you go option is the best way to go.

And if you was first on a rank then I doubt you would pull off for a radio job unless that job was worth your while.

I also think a benefit for hacks on a circuit is when you are on the outskirts of City/Town you have a chance of getting a job to bring you back in.

If you are HC you have all bases covered (pun) if you rent a PDA... here 90% of plates are HC, about 75% are on a PDA, plus it gives you the chance to get to P1 on a rank and go on break....lol

If you are HC you are unlikely to replate as a PH are you really....

How does the operator know you are on or off rank and when to send you a job?
what if they send you a job close to the rank once you have already picked up a Rank job?
I would appreciate more info as i wouldn't mind joining a PH circuit if its worth it .

It all depends how far the rank job is going. If it's not far they do both jobs.

If the rank job is a longer job, then you just call it back in to the office.

If you are working off a board a good board will work around it so you might be offered a job miles away from the rank but can refuse it and then accept another round the corner from the rank or as it works with my drivers a little job often goes to the car further back or not on the rank leaving the one in pole position who eventually picks up a nice £3 er and then gets a nice £2.50 to follow :doubt: :badgrin:

you did not mention if the PH circuit is actually within your licensing area or if you would be working cross border ?

How does the operator know which car is on rank and off rank if its a PH circuit and i have herd if drivers only take the jobs worth while to them and refuse others are not very popular with the company,

Yes all the drivers work for local firms.

P1....1st place on rank, base can know by tracking on despatch system

How it works round here is, if you're the front of the rank they'll pull you off for a minimum fare, you'll pass half a dozen cars coming back to the rank from where you've been sent to. They couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery round here, the best thing about it is, they've all got GPS tracking and PDA's.

How does it work with hacks working along a circuit when PH circuit is min £5 here and a hack does a job which is less than a mile which if metered is around £3?

if the fare is within your licensing district you can only charge the meter rate IF it is less than the quote
