We have a new driver in town. He is an Asian chap from Leicester. Just before Christmas he was warned by a couple of other drivers for working before he had got his plate. However, he now has his plate and earlier this week his car was left unattended on the main rank in town for nearly an hour. When he returned a driver told him that he wasn't allowed to leave the car on the rank to which he replied "it's ok, I have cleared it with the traffic warden that I can leave it here whilst I have my lunch break." It didn't matter what the other driver said he just insisted that he could do it. The next day his car was again left unattended on the rank and he had left a sign in the window saying "gone to lunch"
Do you think he will last long?

A few tickets on his motor will make him think twice, and a few flat tyres might do likewise.

perhaps a complaint to the traffic wardens boss that the warden is allowing a clear violation of traffic regs might get the desired result

if the rank is licensed by the council (and some ranks are, some arent, and some outside train stations whilst seemingly on the highway but that land might belong to the railways under the Victorian act of parliament and land purchased, maybe your LA is the avenue best to try...local bye-laws and traffic wardens/police dont mix

The traffic warden/CEO is powerless. TMA 2004 doesn't make provision for enforcement against a taxi on a taxi rank. If the byelaws say the taxi should not be left unattended, it is up to licensing to take action.

we had one of 1,3,5 sweetie shops lot did that today and was spotted wandering back towards the rank with eating a sandwich :roll:

nah about right for them the record was 3 of their cars left abandoned on the rank when they went en masse into town for lunch
