I have to have one every year now that I am over 65. I now pay £40 as I told my GP that I want a discount for quantity.

Ive just changed districs and one of the requirements is a medical done by my own GP.last year when i renewed my badge it was £100,so at this rate in ten years time my medical will cost in the region of £600 LOL,extortion.

Ours is £74 (every 4 years under age 45, then every 2 over that age) and the council dictate where you can go, we use the same clinic that they send HGV drivers to.

How common are medicals?

Luckily we don't have them here, because I don't fancy shelling out £100 or so

 I don't fancy shelling out a ton now, so I cant see me changing my mind when I'm a bit older.

But I don't think we have a medical for older drivers either.

The Scottish Executive's "Task Group" recommened compulsory medicals for new drivers and then every five years between 45 and 65 and then yearly for the pensioners.

Reading that actually makes me feel very old compared to when it was first proposed, but with the speed the Task Group seem to be moving at I'll probably have expired by the time the medicals come in anyway :-({|=
