What can be done about a taxi business operating without an operators license.
The following info is common knowledge around the local area they operate.Info is true(i do not want to go into details on how the info was obtained)
1.They started 3 months ago with "NO" operators license.
2.They have used private cars with a topsign on.(although now all there cars are plated)
3.They allowed one of there wives with no badge to use there private car(with a topsign on) for a pickup.
4.Claiming they are another taxi firm but changed there name to steal business.
5.2 of them have been involved in a small "Bump" and have not reported it to LA
6.All info has been passed to LA,police, council, planning office and they are "STILL" operating.

What is the point of the "streetwise taxi guide" if they LA do not act on information they are passed regarding illegal taxi operations. All the LA will say is the matter is in hand,,how many more passengers will they be allowed to be picked up in these(as i understand having no operators license will be)unisured vehicles

Report it to your LO and tell them you'll follow it up next week, and if nothings done it'll be in the local press the week after.
This is a serious issue, where will they stand if someone's killed in an unlicenced cab that they knew about?
Better still write a letter, deliver by hand, get recipt and do a cc to your local paper.

A lot can be done but these things take time.

You need to make sure all the iffy goings on you see are logged and reported. Maybe you should ask your LOs what action they are taking.

If you get no joy then write or ring the council's chief exec, or the lead licensing councillor.

You just need to bang on and bang on, and most importantly get loads of pukka information.

I mean you could always ring up the iffy firm and get 100% evidence first hand.

Oh and one other thing.

The local press love stories like this. Have a word with their news team and they might do a sting themselves.
