Car or motorcycle licence You don’t need to tell DVLA if you’ve had a heart attack (myocardial infarction) or a heart, cardiac or coronary angioplasty. However, you should stop driving for: 1 week if you had angioplasty, it was successful and you don’t need any more surgery (thats me) 4 weeks if you had angioplasty after a heart attack but it wasn’t successful 4 weeks if you had a heart attack but didn’t have angioplasty Odd that diabetics must inform DVLA but not heart attack sufferers |

Do you mean driving a private car or licenced HC/PHV? If your council applies Group 2 standards then it's six weeks minimum by the looks of it: DVLA wrote: Bus, coach or lorry licence You must tell DVLA and stop driving for 6 weeks if you’ve had a heart attack (myocardial infarction) or a heart, cardiac or coronary angioplasty. Fill in form VOCH1 and send it to DVLA. The address is on the form. You must take an assessment with your doctor or GP after 6 weeks to see if you meet the medical standard to start driving again. DVLA might arrange for you to have specific tests, depending on your condition. Of course, you'd be informing your local authority licensing department rather than DVLA. But presumably you could drive a private car within a week and no need to tell the DVLA. Although presumably you couldn't drive a licensed HC/PHV for social, domestic and pleasure while waiting for the OK from your local authority, because even for that you'd need to have a valid HCD/PHD licence, so you'd have to wait the six weeks. |

Quote: Where there remains any doubt about the fitness of an applicant, the Licensing Authority
may revert back to the medical practitioner for further information. The application will then be determined on the medical evidence available. |

But if your LA are requiring Group 2 standards for a badge then to drive a plated vehicle you'll need to meet the standards that the DVLA impose on truck and bus drivers. So presumably that means six weeks minimum and a medical assessment before you can drive a plated vehicle. |

One of our drivers had a mild heart attack a while ago. He had to wait 30 days before he could drive the taxi again. |
